Friday night’s Alright for Skanking with Rx Bandits and Catbite

Ska certainly seems to be having a moment. It never goes away but lately ska is stronger than ever. There was evidence of this Friday night at St. Andrews with Catbite and Rx Bandits. Catbite opened the night and got the crowd moving right away with a blazing set of ska punk. A couple of my favorites included “Die in Denver” and “Bad Influence”.

Rx Bandits hold a special place in the hearts of many that had their formative years in the early 2000’s. Tonight’s show was a revisit to their seminal album “And the Battle Begun”. Rx Bandits aren’t really a ska band, they are more a jam band sprinkled with ska. The crowd must have been reliving their 2000 heydays as they joined in singing along to every song in their inspired set.
