Clan of Xymox, Cold Cave, Buzz Kull, and Rosa Anschütz Bring Thrills and Chills to St. Andrews
It isn't often a proper Goth/Darkwave show comes to St. Andrews so when it does you've got to take advantage of it which is exactly what this packed audience did on Saturday night. The night started with a strong opening set from Berlin born, Rosa Anschütz Musical artist with her wonderful vocals and mood-filled synths. Next, Buzz Kull came all the way from Australia for the tour. Buzz Kull's music reminds me (in the best way) of early Skinny Puppy set to modern darkwave beats. This was my first chance to catch Cold Cave live and they did not disappoint. Coming across with more of a raw, punk vibe along with their dark synth driven tracks but also featured some of their beautifully, melodic synth-pop songs. Their singer, Wesley Eisold, has a magnificent presence that is both aggressive and understated.Clan of Xymox, who at this point are true legends of goth, closed the night with some of their best songs from their 40 year (how has it been that long!) career.
