ALL’s Just Perfect show at St. Andrews Hall
It was a family and friend’s show Sunday night for ALL. Bill Stevenson, ALL’s drummer and heart of the band, had his son on tour with him playing bass with opener Jon Snodgrass and guitar in All My Senses. Jon Snodgrass reminds me a bit of Bob Mould with his set of melodic punk. All My Senses set was full of energy with a modern punk approach.
Some people might just say ALL is the Descendents with a different singer but I’ve always thought of them as more than that. Their music has more bubble gum pop leanings and for that they are a little sweeter than the Descendents. I’ve never seen them live so hearing some of my favorite songs like Shreen, Until I Say So, Miranda and She’s My Ex was pure joy. They have more of a raw edge on stage with no pauses between most songs and Stephen’s guitar work really stands out. They played over 25 songs in a little over an hour. There was a small mosh pit going but most of the crowd just enjoyed the show.
