Ministry Bring the Golden Years Back to Masonic Cathedral
This Ministry tour is a gift to fans that have been waiting decades to hear material from the Ministry early years of "With Sympathy" and "Twitch" played live. Sure there was the short set at Cruel World last year but for those of us that weren't there that was more of a cruel tease. This show didn't disappoint with opener Die Krupps playing Detroit for the first time back in 30 years. It was a short and sweet set that included their classic "Metal Machine Music". Nitzer Ebb has played Detroit a number of times but they are always a treat. Down to a minimal duo, they packed their set with the hits. By the time they did "Join In the Chant" everybody was joining in the fun. Ministry came on in "new wave lounge" get up with shiny suit coats and awesome hats. The material from "With Sympathy" was great .the even older songs were okay, but it was the "Twitch" songs that really stood out. The sonic vibrations of "Over the Shoulder" and "We Believe" brought wild cheers. They closed with an encore of covers including Fad Gadget's "Ricky's Hand" and Revolting Cocks beloved take on Rod Stewart's "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy." In an odd way you could say a lot of prayers were answered tonight in this cathedral!
