Burning Witches Scorch the Night Away at Token Lounge wsg Triple Black
Burning Witches have been blazing a path for nearly a decade and have built a rabid fanbase around their power-metal anthems. When they come to town it’s best to get there early and be prepared for a night of fist-raising, ground shaking metal. Their 17-song set at the Token Lounge was nicely paced with intros spread throughout to give Burning Witches and the crowd a little time to catch their breath before they get pummeled with more sound and fury.
Burning Witches
Vocalist, Laura, expressed her range and rage on every song going from high-pitched screams to low, guttural barks as she worked all sides of the stage. Guitarists Romona and Courtney traded off leads, bassist Jeanine and drummer Lala kept the songs flowing. The set was over an hour long. A few highlights included a masked Laura on “Dance with the Devil” the crowd singing along to “Inquisition,”their ballad “Release Me” and closing with the pulse pounding “Burning Witches.” They’ve only got a few dates left on their US tour but I’m already looking for their next one!
Triple Black
Four of Michigan’s finest metal bands opened the show, SoZen, True Devil, Kinical Trial and Triple Black. I only got pics with Triple Black, an amazing metal cover band that deftly played songs by Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath.
