A Glimpse of Upheaval Festival's Fabulous Friday!

Upheaval Festival is a 2 day event in Grand Rapids at Belknap Park that has a steep, enormous hill that separates the Upheaval/Rising stages from the Lookout stage. I walked in and captured the crowd getting down to Taproot then caught a full set by the hard rocking band Paralandra. After the trek up the hill to the Lookout stage, I caught the end of a set by Return to Dust that had a bit of a 2000's grunge feel to it. Next up was Scene Queen, which may have been a surprise to many of the dedicated hard rockers at the fest. However, Scene Queen brought a colorful set full of fun and dirty rhymes that had the crowd's full attention. Being at the front of Scene Queen for the entire set I realized the heat did me in so I walked back down to witness Architects raging and crowd surfing galore. The day gave me a good sampling of Upheaval Festival and I'm already making plans for next year!
